BIOGRAPHY

I am a board-certified internal medicine specialist with advanced research training in the liver diseases of dogs and cats from Texas A&M University where I earned a Ph.D in 2019. I am skilled in all aspects of internal medicine but canine liver disease is my special interest and expertise. Otherwise, I enjoy advanced diagnostic procedures that facilitate obtaining a diagnosis and delivery of a treatment plan. My goal is to increase access to specialty care in our community and improve the quality of service to the referring population. My family is from Jamaica and I grew up in Connecticut. I attended The Loomis Chaffee School in Windsor Connecticut for high school and was a member of the last School Year Abroad Program in Barcelona, Spain before it was moved to Zaragoza. I then attended Middlebury College in Vermont and received my Bachelor's Degree in Biology. I subsequently moved to Boston, MA where I was a research technician at Boston University School of Medicine in a laboratory studying Autism in children before completing a Master's Degree in Anatomy and Neurobiology. I went on to attend Tufts University where I received my Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2010 and then completed a rotating internship in medicine and surgery at North Carolina State University in 2011, and a residency in small animal internal medicine along with a second Master's Degree in Veterinary Sciences at Oregon State University in 2014.  I then joined the gastrointestinal laboratory at Texas A&M University. I have 2 Persian cats, Raksha and Azrael. I am an avid but recreational runner and enjoy spending time with my husband, family, and traveling.
